Ability to use DOC or PDF or shared Google Drive files

I may have missed it somewhere in the tools. I would love to be able to attach a PDF or DOC to be used as the source. I've tried attaching URL to a viewable google doc and that returned an error. Some blogs and scripts I have that need rewritten or summarized can't be posted publicly until final.
